My Little Girls

I was lucky enough to spend some time with my two granddaughters to help out mom while their daddy is on a business trip.
So what did we do on everyone's day off.......We went to the American Girl Doll Store and had a fabulous girls day!

We had lunch there, with the dolls of course! Lizzy had an appointment for her doll "Emily" to get her ears pierced.....oh yes they do that and a beauty parlor also where you can have your dolls hair done up. (french braids, undo's best) We didn't do that this time. But boy was it fun, let me show you with some photos

If you have daughters, granddaughter or want to adopt one for the day, I highly recommend a day at the American Girl doll store!!! Even if you didn't buy anything and just looked it is amazing and like "Disney".  They even have dolls for people who don't have their own to have lunch with, really sweet.  AND to top it off the food was even good!


So that was one day and then it was back to school and normal everyday life. I got to take the girls to school and do pick up. It was so fun to be part of their day. Abby had a musical concert where all the 3rd graders sang American songs in honor of Veterans Day.  It was a treat to see and hear.

                          And then there was special Art Class in the evening, Abby is quite good for 8 yrs old

                               The newest member of the Family "Dumpling" the crayfish

 So here's the story, the class was asked who wanted to care for a crayfish, well of course Abby raised her hand as did many others. But it was an adoption for life. So $100 later and my daughter setting this all up, they now have "Dumpling"   Welcome home surprise for Daddy!

And this is what you have to do if you have two working parents and two busy kids!!!
So organized this family and I'm very proud. Of course not all goes as planned but such is life.

So hope I didn't bore you but I just wanted to share my time with all of you. This was just 3 days out of a busy families life these days! Yikes!


I'm home and busy getting organized myself for Thanksgiving. Little bit of knitting in there also.

       Working on a cowl with Eco Cloud yarn, merino wool and alpaca, very soft!

As you can see it was a full half-week of fun, outdoor fun and play. It's so great to be a grandmother, I just love it!!! I cherish each and every time I get to be with them. Flowers Knitting Baking

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and is having a great start to the week. We had cold temperatures this weekend but we had SUN. It was so nice to see the blue sky, despite the cold weather. I have been seeing Robin's too. Did they forget to fly south?! It's way to early for Spring here, I just don't know, anyone else seeing Robin's who are living in a cold climate.
I have lots of photos to share with you today.
I have been enjoying my orchids of late, they are all doing so well and thriving in one particular window. If they aren't in bloom then there are buds. It so exciting. Here have a look

Here is my Amaryllis from the first bloom to the fourth and there is actually one more hiding!!

I decided to start a sweater for myself. I had an urge to make a sweater that could be a "go to sweater" and have a little challenging stitch also. This is a lovely pattern with a garter stitch and a Trinity stitch. The stitch is like a pompom and so much fun to make. I'm taking my time in making this and it is becoming a very relaxing project. It you are interested in the pattern let me know and I will let you know where you can find it.



In the winter I get much more domestic and enjoy cooking and baking. I have recently used my bread maker and made a delicious loaf of bread. Take a peek

Look what my lucky Jack got from the kitchen. Made on Sunday! My Hb would have rather enjoyed some cookies for humans!!! Can't blame him.....he has to wait for ❤ Day.

I'm also reading a new book, "Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt. It is good so far, but I have a long way to go. Anyone else reading this or another good book?

Well, that's all for now. We are scheduled to get more snow on Thursday, so I will be busy with my errands before then, if I get stuck inside! Family coming this weekend and "Little's" staying for a few more days. Happy Nannie and Poppy!!

My new felted hat with dragonfly! It is soooo warm and beautifully made by a Vermont crafter.

Sweater Weather

Boy, has it been cold in the New England area of the United States. Negative degrees in the early morning and nights. Most days we are just reaching 12-18F, not too much snow on the ground but we do have some and ice. My husband went off the road the other day, just due to black ice and negative degrees. Not to mention it's so early when he leaves the house they hadn't even sanded the roads yet.

He was fine, by the way, just an inconvenience and a scare when I saw him back at home again, without the car. Oh, forgot to say it happened just half a mile from home and it was in a ditch. We had to call Triple A to get towed out. But all is well and we are thankful it wasn't worse.

 So due to all this icy cold weather I get to wear all my warmest sweaters and have been knitting them too. Great to have yarn as a hobby with winters like this one. I finished (almost 8 year old) Abby's cardigan and am very pleased. Here's a finished photo.

Pattern: Heirloom Stitches, exclusively distributed by: deep south fibers   "Ragman"
This was a really fun pattern to knit up, very easy and a very classic design.

Made with size 10 1/2 knitting needles and 10 1/2 double tipped needles, Cascade Yarns 128 Superwash, 100% superwash merino wool
This is a size 10,  6-1 inch Buttons

Then I made this 18-24 month same pattern for a future baby. Planning ahead. It's just such a great pattern and baby sweaters knit up so quickly. The yarn is the same Cascade Yarns 128 superwash chunky.

I think I'm going to make a sweater for myself next, if I don't get sidetracked with other projects. I can dream!!!

We all need flowers to brighten up our long winter days. Tulips have appeared at my local food shop so they hopped in my cart :  )

        My amaryllis is coming along and my Hyacinth also but it has been extremely slow..........
I've been trying to be patient, really I have........................

Enjoying Creating

Rainy day here in Vermont, USA....... what a great opportunity to work in my sewing/craft room! So many makings in progress, WIP from along time ago, some special orders and even something for me!

First a photo my daughter sent me of Lizzie and her American Girl doll in "THE SWEATER", you know the one.....from my last post. (fudging at its best)

I've been working on some special orders for my baby buntings for the shop in my area. This woman wanted two buntings for her twins, one in pinks and one in lavenders. So I came up with these. The shop owner said she would be pleased!

                                     Added buttons to the tails this time instead of heart patches.
                                      I love buttons, like so many of you.




Now I'm in the process of making a few Halloween/Autumn buntings......just for FUN

I also have had some orders for my crochet hooks, so I made a batch on Sunday, they will be in my Etsy shop very soon!

As I was getting ready to glaze them, I wanted to try another top coat, so I made up a little something and then coated it with gloss. It turn out like this

See the little mushroom. I made a hole before baking it and now it's a candle holder in the forest!

Well, this is getting to be rather a long post. So I should go..........but maybe you want to see one more finished projects. This is a knitted project that is really really for me. I started it the end of last winter so it will be perfect for the coming cold weather.


I have to apologize in advance for all the selfies (photos), but I wanted to show the cowl off.

Okay now, way too much showing off. It's just been so long since I have finished things and it really feels so good. Although, I have a lifetime of projects to finish but I'm on a roll!!
