Gardener's Delight

I'm so far behind in blogging, don't know where to begin, soooooo I'm starting with my green thumb delights. We have had some beautiful weather lately, so I have been able to weed my gardens, put out the deck furniture and make up my herb and flower boxes. Lots of fun, maybe not the weeding!

                                             I have three boxes of herbs

                                  Here is fino verde basil, curly parsley and oregano for salads

                                    Rosemary for oil dips and seasonings and mint for iced tea

                   Parsley, basil, dill, basil, and parsley. Can never have enough parsley or basil in my book

                                       Two cherry tomato plants, will definitely be enough for us

                         Flower box with lobelia, petunias, geraniums and then repeated

So summer's here and time to enjoy.



We travelled to Martha's Vineyard over Memorial Day weekend. Weather was fierce, by that I mean windy, torrential rain and cold. The last part of the long weekend was saved by a break in the rain and some sunny sky's. We could then walk the beach and Jack was in doggy heaven. Here take a look.

                      This is what we got after all the horrid weather, I think it was worth it!!!!!!

A few treasures from my walk. I pick up treasures almost every walk, normally just one but I had to make up for all the rain.

                        Finished two more hats for the shop, but only one had its picture taken!

Painted the living room a lovely green, was beige.......we wanted color!!! It's a Benjamin Moore paint "dill weed". Not the most attractive name but it looks great in the room, nice change!
Sometimes all you need is fresh paint and the rest all looks NEW!


Well, that's all the show and tell today! But what else I've been up to is my dear sweet mom. She just turned 86, although she doesn't know that :  (  She is pretty healthy except for the Alzheimer's. It's such a sad disease and I have trouble coping with it in my mom's case. My last visit was a few weeks ago now and she wasn't even aware of her own home. That's what started the second phase of what to do. My brother and I have kept her in her home with 24 hour home care because that was her wish, but now it's a different story. I have been looking into memory care units up my way.  I have found two in particular that I think are lovely. So it's just a matter of time before she comes up here or goes to where we have had a deposit on a nice place in Pennsylvania. I would love to have her up with me. I just don't know if its wise because of the traveling and change. Not even sure of how long she will last in a nursing home. It's so difficult but her home is not safe for her any longer with all the stairs. We have been successful so far with being able to take everything slowly and having time to think and plan, so hopefully we will make the right decision in her next care.

It you are looking for a good book I just finished "The Light between Oceans" by M L Stedman. It was fabulous! A story about a couple, a lighthouse and a baby set in Australia. I highly recommend it.

Brimfield Antique and Flea Market

Great time was had at the Fair!!! Lots of people buying, lots of people selling, lots of sun and smiles! Fair food, kettle corn, lobster rolls, fresh lemonade, turkey dinner in a sub roll, fries, and drinks! Lots of walking involved, so comfy wear was important.

Things I liked and didn't get, lovely baskets, vintage thread cabinets, antique desk (top comes down), church pew bench seat. Aren't they all special?

Things I did purchase vintage yarn spools, wooden darning holder, table cloth (loved the fabric), fiesta ware (I have this in MV), woven laundry basket made in India, kilt safety pins for sweaters, bell necklace (handle of SS fork and fork tong for bell)  makes a lovely chime!

I think I did well, no large purchases but it was fun to roam and dream.

Now actually home this week and so looking forward to catching up both in the house and outside.

More to update you all soon. So much going on, my head is spinning.

Back Home

I'm home and couldn't be happier. Vacations are great, visiting mom is wonderful but there is no place like home. One week in Arizona, home one day and off to Pennsylvania for five, home then wonderful trip to Massachusetts to celebrate Mother's Day with kids......it's been a busy whirl wind. I am happy to stay put for a spell, but more travel this month but short trips.

This weekend we will be going to a fabulous fair called Brimfield Fair in Western Ma. It is a huge antique, flea market type fair.  I promise to take lots of pictures. We are not really looking for anything special just wondering and enjoying. I'm sure I will find some treasures though.

So what about Arizona, well it was hot!! 102 degrees in Phoenix while we were there, really too heat for me! The day my Hb was at his conference I just had to shop at a mall. I know it was tough but it was my job. Scottsdale, AZ is 25 minutes from Phoenix so I was able to take the rental car and explore.  After the conference we had our vacation. We travelled to Sedona where the red rocks are and it was exquisite. I had asked the question, how will you know when you see the rocks, WELL, there is no question when you see them for the first time. Take a look

We took a "Pink Jeep Tour" up the rocks and saw so much and actually learned about the rocks, vegetation, and history. It was so much fun. We climbed and descended some fairly white knuckle mountains. Take a peek

We ate some awesome authentic Mexican food and a few too many margaritas!! Well, not to many, I don't think that's possible!


We stay at the sweetest, loveliest villa in Sedona. I'm going to show you in photos.

Hi my faithful followers,

Many many thank you's for your lovely words and prayers for Boston. Shortly after I posted the 2nd suspect was caught and now we wait for answers and justice. We will all continue to pray for the injured and all families involved. Boston really came together and it was so inspiring to see.
                                                  "BOSTON STRONG"


I had two daughters who were flying in and out of Boston on Saturday so I was more then a bit cautious and apprehensive. But thank the Lord all went well and now for a bit I feel a little bit more at ease. We will be flying on Saturday so I'm having faith all will be fine. You just don't know what lies ahead, so we have to cherish every moment and be grateful. That's what I try to do.


Ok, now I have to move on and show you what I've been up to with my needles. My oldest granddaughter "Abby" just turned "7".  I can't believe that little one is 7. She is really getting into her American Girl doll now, so you know what that means. Yes, sweater, clothes made by "knitting nannie".  I have made so far a hooded sweater for "Abigail" the doll and one is on the needles for a matching sweater for Abby. Then I will made a skirt and top and pants! So much fun to have grandchildren!❤!

Here is the hooded cardi in a lovely purple with pompom yarn around hood and sleeves. *please note a nose in the picture, Jack just has to be part of everything :  )

Next is "Fudge" the bunny to try on the hoodie, I don't have the dolly here. *please note a nose again!

It fits and isn't Fudgie cute!

Crazy sad week in Boston

Hello all,

I'm sure most of you know of the Marathon bombing in Boston, Massachusetts on Monday! Monday is Patriots Day in Massachusetts, it is a time when runners, families, friends and visitors from all over come to run, observe and support their families and friends. This was Boston's 117th marathon and always a joyous and friendly gathering until this Monday. Two bombs went off near and at the finish line, three were killer and 170+ injured. It has all been a crazy and insane senseless act and we are all suffering the loss to our city. I love Boston and lived in the suburbs of Boston for 32 years, before moving to Vermont. It's so hard to fathom the extended of the horror, damage and pain this has brought. Measures have identified the two suspects and they were found. A chase occurred and one was shot, but one is still at large.  This hunt will continue until he is caught. Boston is in shutdown mode while the search is on for the safety of all Boston's residents and workplaces. WE ALL HOPE AND PRAY IT WILL BE OVER SOON.

Boston is strong, the people are strong and no one is giving up. They say this will make us stronger and it has in the way that everyone has come together with love, support and manpower. The doctors and local hospitals have all been superb. Please send your prayers to all involved and pray for an end to all the senseless evil happening that are occurring more and more everywhere.


Thanks for visiting, so sorry it is not a happy post, but unfortunately we have to deal with all kinds of events in our lives, this is real and has to be attended to. Just had to talk about it. Thank you for listening.

Mother Nature

MOTHER NATURE STRIKES AGAIN!

We face the same today, the 13th, and actually for the whole weekend : (  I so want to get into the gardens and now we will have mud season again. I know I know it will come, I will have to be patient.
Just sharing my moments of despair......now on to fun things



I have been knitting up baby hats and more bunnies and bunks. A local gift shop in Hanover, New Hampshire, Lemon-Tree-Gifts-of-Hanover, has some of my aprons, bunnies, buntings and baby hats. It's fun to be featured there but I may just be going back to my Etsy shop with these items soon. I can make my prices lower and have more personal interaction with my customers. So we will see.

April.....

Who can believe it is already April? Well, I can't. Sometimes I just don't know where the hours and days and weeks go and then it is another month. YIKES!

Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. We had a lovely family gathering with the little ones. So we dyed eggs and the Easter bunny came and left lots of chocolates and jelly beans and peeps!!! Even the adults got baskets :  )   We had an egg hunt in the house because it was way too muddy outside. The girls had so much fun, we had to hide the plastic eggs 3 different times! Fun for all, then we had teams, oh yes we did.....you are never to old or young for an egg hunt!

Here are a few pictures of the dying of the eggs and the hunt!

                                          It was a family affair. Shaving cream was a new method(with food dye to marbleize) not that successful.....but definitely fun because it was messy and squishy.

                                        We all helped the little ones!

Bunny Update

I did have time......I made little bunny homes out of large wooden match boxes. Covered them with craft paper and paper tape, then sewed up bed pad, pillow and mini quilt. It was so fun and they were a hit!
