Hi Lovely bloggers,
Just a quick update. Yes, Irene was quite the storm. We personally were not inconvenienced, just lots of rain and wind, no loss of electricity or water in basement. We were so blessed. BUT my neighboring shopping centers are GONE!! No more TJMaxx, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Kohl's, CVS, Hallmark Store.....I am so sad. Where will I get my craft supplies, and everyday needs? I will have to travel lots further and we didn't have that many shopping centers to begin with. Sorry to complain but it's been such an adjustment to begin with, moving away from Boston area. I know I will survive and shopping should be the least of anyone concerns, it just makes things a little more difficult. Oh, you may wonder what do I mean by stores being gone, their was so much flooding, water up to 5+feet and all merchandise floating about. So stores have to be gutted, and literally rebuilt, one even shifted from its foundation.
Thanks for listening. All the poor people who are homeless and need food are in my prayers. I plan to help out in anyway I can. Knitting warm items and donating food are just a few ways I plan to help those in need.
I have to leave you all, with a few things we can always be thankful for.

Love to you all and thanks for popping in, xoRobin❤

Hi Robin!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that you and your family are OK, and no damage to your home.
I am sad to hear of the loss of your shopping center...lots of people will be without jobs for awhile. Ouch.
Hopefully your stores will be up and running before you know it. In the meantime, you will be saving lots of money. Or you can shop online :)
Robin, glad you are all safe and your home is in on piece. It is so horrible all the people who have lost their homes and jobs, this is so crazy. Here in Florida we just had a slight breeze in the air. I know you will miss your stores, hopefully they will be re-built quickly and better than ever. Have a great weekend,
ReplyDeleteMeredith
Glad to know you are safe and sound. Thank goodness for shopping online. I hope they are able to get things back up and running faster than expected.

Oh Robin.. I'm sorry that your area was hit that hard! I hope they rebuild quickly so everything can return to normal. I'm glad your family was spared.
ReplyDelete((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Oh Robin, so sorry about the shopping centres, I suppose it will effect lots of peoples jobs and incomes who worked there, the economic climate is bad enough already, without this.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you personally are alright, lets hope the rebuilds start quickly.

ReplyDeleteHopefully your shops will rebuild soon.

Debbie, Meredith, Susan, Teresa, Lily, Viv, thank you so much for your kind words and concerns. I cherish all your positive comments and caring thoughts. I really feel blessed to have met so many lovely ladies.
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a delightful weekend. xoRobin❤
Online shopping forgot about that!! : )
Hello Robin It's such a shame hearing about the damage done by Irene...although it's wonderful that you and your family and home were unharmed, I was sorry to hear about the loss of your favourite shops, especially the crafty ones...only a crafter knows how much our supplies matter! I expect the stores will soon be rebuilt. Maybe you could buy crafty things online in the meantime? I buy a lot of crafty materials this way that I can't get locally. Hope you feel much cheerier soon and have a happy weekend.

Hi Robin, I am so glad that you and your family are safe. I feel for all the ones who have lost their homes.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a really nice idea from you to help them with knitting warm items and donating food. Hav a nice week, Nicole
Dear Robin,
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased you stopped by my little corner of the world because now I have seen your blog too. I am glad to hear that you and your loved ones are well after Irene came and went.
Did you see I am having a giveaway? It looks as though you might really like the gifts. Feel free to enter if you wish.
See you soon,
Stephanie
I am little late commenting, Robin, as I was away from computer, but I am so happy you're safe! We were thinking all our friends in US when the news of hurricane came, and wished for the best. So I am happy, happy, happy that you're all in one piece, but I can also understand, how devastating it's to loose the shops near you. The jobs are gone also ( some new for the re-builders but...) and when you need something urgently, the shops are not there. But as the ladies above suggested, online shopping it is! And oh boy isn't it fun too :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful and sunny Thursday and happy weekend soon too!
Yours,
Mia
