Suggestions Please

Hello friends old and new,

I need help! I spend hours and hours and days and months on this foolish cowl neck wrap and I can't even figure out how to wear it.
I blocked it overnight, seemed to block nicely. Then I unpinned it, folded it and it looked so nice. I love the pattern and it was fun to make, BUT it looks silly on. What am I doing wrong any suggestion? Do I need to block again or just let it be??? As soon as I put it on and played with the cowl it started curling again : (

SO disappointed this was suppose to be a Ta TAHHHHHH moment

OK here are some pics.

                                                             What's a girl to do??????

It looked so lovely until I put it on
Any and all suggestions welcome!

Ok, enough that's move on. I want to show you some of my purchases while in Pennsylvania visiting
my mom. We had a few fun shopping adventures in a paper store called Paper Source. (one of my favorite places to shop) Anything involving paper, card stock, stamps, pens etc. I find so exciting, it just makes me sooooo happy. Weird, right!!  It's right up there with yarn and fabric and craft shops!

Lots of fun! Darling coin pouch with mushroom, stamping alphabet and ink pads, mini love paperclips, and paper tape! Oh, the things I can make :  )

Well, that's all for how. Thank you in advance if you have any tips for me and my cowl dilemma.

Love love your comments and visits. Happy last day of January and February here we come!

Back on Track

I'm back after a delightful visit with family and friends! I certainty kept my little mom busy between visits with new great niece, visiting Patty and Dave, shopping and eating out. It was so filled with joy and blessings.

My friends are amazing and dealing with grace what has become their world right now. They are learning about the medical world and doing all that is required and necessary to find out exactly  what Dave's diagnosis is. At the moment it is B-cell Lymphoma, which is better news then the pancreatic cancer that was first thought. Please keep them in your prayers.

I met my niece's new baby girl, Janie, she is so sweet and beautiful. Here's a peek at cuteness!

                                                                       13 days old

My mom and I had a lovely lunch at a place called Terrain. This restaurant was so unique. It's a nursery and garden center in the spring, summer and fall and a lovely restaurant and gift shop in the winter months. We both had a delicious lunch. I started off with a mulled cider served with a mini biscotti. Water was served in mason ball jars and lemon. Just so garden and green house themed. Yes, the tables were in the greenhouse with all the plants and details. Things were hanging and climbing and decorating the walls and ceiling. Want to see?

mason jar, backdrop to our table (gorgeous door), hanging plants, tree stump tables,  greenery,  menu,  decor

Our lunch came with delightful bread baked in a flower pot served with maple honey butter with a sprinkle of pistachio sea salt. The salt was to die for with the sweetness of the butter. I was in heaven. Then we both ordered falafel cakes with onion, cucumber, greens, cucumber/ dill spread and pita bread, it was so good. The falafel was a little too spicy for mom, so she turned hers in for a mushroom tart that was eaten before I could get a photo. So happy, that was a hit.
We opted out of dessert and did a little shopping in the gift shop. It was a lovely experience and so nice to have been shared with my mom. Love those memorable moments to be cherished.

Can you see the uniqueness of this place and why I'm sharing this perfect day?! I have been looking into baking bread in the oven with flower pots and it is very doable. You do have to treat the clay pots with oil and baking in the oven to season the clay. But it is something I will do and then I can see a lot of flower pot breads!

Everyone has been into the sky lately and I am also one to admirer the sky. I took a photo in my mom's back yard where the sky looked so threatening and then to the left it was beautiful. Here take a look.

                                                            Sorry for blinding reflecting

                                                                    Blue sky and sun

So as you can see it was a nice visit. I visited friends, family and neighbors and it was so satisfying to fit so much into one visit. BUT most of all it was great to show my mom a good time because she really does not go out much.

I knit in the evening while watching TV and will have a ta-dah soon. What I'm knitting is a first for me, can't wait to show you.

Thanks so much for visiting. I have to get caught up on all your lovely blogs. Look at my first purchased flowers in 2012! I just love tulips this time of year. They make me smile and we all need that on these wintery days. It's really cold here, -2 degrees F this morning and a high of 22 F. Bbrrrrrrrrrr

Be back soon. Thanks again for your lovely comments and following my rambling stories and tales.

Many Thanks

I want to thank you all so much for your kind and thoughtful comments on my last post. It really means a lot to me, many thanks. I have been in contact with my friends and they are in the process of getting test results. It will be a little time until a plan will be in the works for treatment.
In the meantime I had an idea to make my girlfriend something special.

Way back when before my blogging days, I was making comfort dolls for the Haitian Orphans after the 2010 Earthquake.
There were many knitters who all got together to make comfort dolls for all the children. It was a wonderful project to be involved in. We would meet up and be creative with our needles and really there were some very clever ladies. We sent a box of 75 dolls with some doctors and nurses who were going to Haiti from our local hospital. They were delivered to the hospitals and orphanages. Through the grapevine we heard the children were so thrilled and just hugged and hugged them.
Here are a few of the many.

So I got this idea to make one for Patty. Just a small comfort doll to have by her bedpost. Then she can be comforted and feel some love. I halved the pattern and came up with this.

I put heart buttons on for love and a little skirt and top. Nice ponytail and of course a smile.

I have two others to show you but the above one is for Patty.

These little dolls are such fun to make because the sky's the limit on what you can do. But I think there fun to make because it will go to someone who might need comfort or just something to hug.

I will sign off with another thank you for your kindness. Thanks for visiting, I always love your visits. Be back soon, although I will be away next week visiting my mom and Patty.

Prayers!

Hello Friends new and old,

I am asking for a favor today. My dearest friend(Patty) in the whole world received life changing news yesterday. Her sweet husband(Dave) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer yesterday. I have to tell you, they are the loveliest couple I know. Kindness, love and understand just flows from them to all who are near. They are not strangers to hardships, but always seem to handle it with grace and just do what needs to be done. It is hard for anyone Not to cherish them and their friendship. I am asking if you can put them in your prayers. I know some people do not believe in prayer, but if you do please pray for strength and courage for the road ahead of them.

Thank you so much in advance for this kindness. I do believe in prayer, faith and optimism! It can help in so many ways, just knowing you are in people's thoughts and prayers.

PEACE to all of YOU.   Look how precious life is, it can change in a moments notice.

Thank you again, I'm sorry to sounds so sad, but I am.

Follow up!

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to show the finished mittens before they are mailed out! Also want to show you the Amaryllis in ITS FULL GLORY!

I think Elisabeth will love them. I added the i-cord so she won't lose them, something she doesn't mind having attached.

All four in full bloom

Christmas Poinsettia still doing well and still reminding me of candy canes

Up close

Does any one know what this is? It was a gift from one of my daughters. She got it at a craft fair. Well, it is a yarn nest and you hang it outside in the spring and birdies will take the rove off for building their nests. Isn't that so neat. Can't wait to put it out this Spring.....but it will be awhile, three more months of winter here!

Just had to include one of my orchids that is doing so well at my kitchen window.

Well, now I want to move on to new/old knitting projects. I will be finishing some already started projects from before the holidays. My mission is to finish projects this year and I'm pretty excited about this concept.
One is a cowl neck scarf and the other is a triangle style shawl. More on this later.

Hope this post finds you all well and having a little time to smell the roses or to pick up your craft.
Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting!

✿Flower Power✿

Good Day Friends and New Friends,

Can't believe the first week of the New Year is coming to a close. Hope everyone had a good transition from holiday living to real life schedules. Mine was fine, the holidays were great but I was ready for some "normal" routines. Work was work, but it was great to see my friends at work and exchange stories.
Now I feel like I am hibernating a little when I am home except for work, errands and the like, and you know what it feels pretty good. (at least for the moment)

I am enjoying knitting a bit and reading and even watching some chic flicks! Sounds nice right! I have wanted to show you my Power Flower for ages now, so here goes.

FROM START TO ALMOST FULL "GLORY"

Now I call this Flower Power or you could call it a magnificent Amaryllis

I love the white and salmon color. Do you? or Do you like the red better. This was a gift so I didn't know what color it was going to be. Surprise Surprise......and what a wonderful one.

Sneak peek at Little One's new mittens.........just one so far. Second is on my dpn.

Colors picked out by Little Miss for Little one!!!

Have a great day! See you all soon. I seem to be on a roll blogging I wonder when it will slow down.......I hope not too soon.

Meet "Caty"

Hi Ladies and gents, (if there are any)

So I think most of you who follow me can see that I had visitors over the holidays and it was "Oh So Fun"! I had one granddaughter for a week and we had so much fun. We played with all the Santa toys and watched lots of Christmas DVDs and played in the snow/ice. We went boot skating, which is just what it sounds like. Little Miss loved skating on the ice in the park and cracking through and twirling around. It was a special time. We went to see "The Muppet Movie". It's so much fun to see that type movie with a little person. The giggles and smiles are priceless. She did get a little squirmy toward the end, so she keep my lap cosy the last 20 minutes. Grandchildren are the best!

So anyway, while we were playing and drawing and coloring, Little Miss asked if I could knit so she could watch. Well, I don't have to be asked twice, so up to my sewing room we went and "A" picked out colors of yarn. She wanted to design her own "Caty". So what is a "Caty", let me show you. It is something that has been part of her life for 5 years now and the two are inseparable. I believe I bought her, her first, but there have been many more!! "Caty" is a beloved rainbow caterpillar. The two go everywhere together but not to school. Caty has to stay at home and wait for her. SO "Caty" was so much part of "A's" life that a year ago I knit up a Caty scarf, which I hadn't seen for a year. When they came up I was reunited with scarf Caty and she had held up well. Little Miss had a different idea in mind and thought she needed another Caty, so that is where the colors of yarn come in to the picture.

So let me introduce "Caty" to you.

See how loved she is!

One more CLOSE UP!  Many a nose has been wear off or loved off!

Here is Scarf Caty.

And New Scarf Caty designed by Little Miss

She loves her pom poms!

Little Miss and New Scarf Caty

This is the end of the Caty story, thanks for sticking with me. Hope you are all having a good start to the New Year.  Thanks for visiting, I love your visits and comments. Thanks Bloggy Friends!
