A Small Ta Dahhhhhh

Hi My Friends,

Popping in to show you my small finished knitting project and some purchases. I have wanted to make them for sometime now. The time came upon us so fast due to our Nor'easter, so I knit knit  knit and came up with these. They are made for my walks with Jack because I like to have my fingers free for picture taking. The most amazing part is how I made them, want to guess.......no I will tell you. I used 8" long size 4 needles and developed the most cramped thumb joints........but I did it. Next time I will go back to my dp needles.

OK here they are:

Can you see how my hands suffered. I'm glad I tried them though.

They are so soft

Can you may see a little discrepancy in the two.........yes, I did make a boo boo but it's Ok, my next pair will be better and also be for a gift. So I learned on my own, I like it that way!!

The yarn is Cascade Yarn "Cloud 9". It is made in Peru, 50% wool and 50% Angora. The Frost Heave 1/2 mitts are made with one skein, 109 yards. Isn't that fabulous! I can't share the pattern I don't think, I always get nervous about that. Does anyone know the rules. I payed for it, so I'm thinking I can't share and it is a shop pattern.

Well, The other day I needed to get out and about so I took myself on a little day trip. I drove about an hour and half to a new town I hadn't explored yet. I had heard there was a great yarn shop and oh my, I was not disappointed, here is the link:  www.greenmountainfibers.com/our_yarns Take a peek if you dare!

So want to see my haul, sure you do.............

This I think will be mittens

This lovely yarn is self striping and I think will be a Shawl

This lovely alpaca 70% and wool 30% is so lush. This will be hats and scarves

For buying so much I was given this hand lotion made by the nice people at this shop. It is sold there because it is important to keep our hands smooth for knitting and it won't spill in our knitting bags.

I also roamed around town and found some fun things. A button tin and button holiday wrap

A fun polka dot clip board, pad and new pen. Such fun for a dork like me!! Now I am ready to make my lists and check them twice.

I want to thank you all for taking the time to visit. I hope you had some fun, I know I always enjoy all your visits and comments. Hope you all have a relaxing weekend filled with  happiness, laughter and love. Be back soon❤

  2. Robin, those mittens are adorable! I MUST learn to do more knitting! I so love it! I have not yet tried that type of needle, where they are connected. Your yarn purchases are so pretty. You are an adventurous gal to be going on such a jaunt all alone! I love the button tin, and wrap. And the clipboard too. But most of all, I cracked up at how you referred to yourself as a dork. You are my soul sister! My dorky soul sister, since I too am a dork!!! And I don't care one bit!!

  4. Oh Robin I love you fingerless mittens! They look soooo soft. They are some really tiny circulars, no wonder you had sore hands. Maybe a longer cable would help? That way you could knit two at a time!
Love your purchases. The Liberty wool is gorgeous (my daughter wants it because that's her name)
Loving your other purchases too. Well shopped!

  7. What a post filled with delights, Robin! Your new fingerless gloves are gorgeous, I love the soft white yarn and the shape of them. All the new yarns are beautiful and will make such lovely winter warmers. And the cute hand cream to keep in your knitting bag is such a nice idea. Loved the button tin and gift wrap (must look for some of that!), and the dotty clipboard is a great idea for all those lists! Have a happy weekend.

  8. Be still my beating heart! That yarn shop is to die for. I wish we had shops that fun here. You made some lush purchases too! I know what you mean about the tiny needles. I bought some too, thinking they might be nicer to work with than DPNs for small things like fingerless gloves. But they really are sooo short! I don't know how others manage. And that angora wool...yum!!!! It looks lovely and cosy - perfect for those walks you talk about.

Thanks for sharing such a fabulous post.

You are not a dork by any means...one very clever lady instead with a great taste in wools!
    Enjoy all your creating.

  14. Robin, the yarns look amazing... I'm thinking about trying the Liberty Wool... let me know if you like it. Is the Alpaca/wool an eco duo yarn? I did my grandma hat in that and I loved it!! your mitts look great! Much better than mine...
I also want to try the Debbie Bliss cashmerino aran... my LYS has it on sale but I can't find a project to make with it.
    Love, Shanti

  15. I am so late joining the party but the wait was worth it; your fingerless mittens are beautiful and SO wintery. You will be able to walk around lile The Snow Queen.

There is nothing like a trip to a new yarn shop to lift your spirits too; you have a good hoard there!

    See you soon.

  16. Hey Robin, love those mittens, they look gorgeous and soft, wish it got cold enough around here to wear something like those, but we have relatively mild winters ( no snow like you guys!!). VeRy jealous of all that beautiful yarn, great shopping, love that Liberty stuff, have never seen it here, must get online and have a look!! Have a great day, and thanks for the birthday wishes!
