Books and More

First of thank you all for your well wishes for my back. It is so much better and I can even garden for a bit each day, but it's my hip that I suffer most from. It all started with Zumba, I was ignoring it and hoping things would just get better....well it didn't so I'm doing PT and exercises to strength the area.
X-rays showed two osteophytes but they didn't seem to alarmed by them. SO I'm being a good girl and doing my exercises everyday and walking too!! Thank you again my friends for your concerns, they mean so much when you are in pain.

So I have done a lot of reading this summer and really all year, 21 books to date. I think reading was a great escape from all the planning this year and really just relaxing!

Here's a list from June on and a 5 star rating, 5 being the best! I was lucky because most of the books I chose were great.

1. Maya's Notebook by Isabel Allende *****
2. One Plus One by JoJo Moyes *****
3. At the Water's Edge by Sara Gruen *****
4. The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah *****
5.The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh *****
6. The Vacationers by Emma Straub ****
7. The Secret Life of Violet Grant by Beatriz Williams *****
8. A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams *****
9.The Ship of Brides by JoJo Moyes *****
10. The Storied Life of A.J. Fiery by Gabrielle Zevin ****
11. Overseas by Beatriz Williams *****
12. Reading "My Brilliant Friend" by Elena Ferrante now, it is a 4 book series and good so far, this is the first book.

It looks like I gave all but two of the books 5 *'s. Great books!  I record the books I read because I forget the plots, so I write a very short summary and it helps refresh my memory. I know I may be a bit nerdy! hahaha

I'm back to knitting a bit lately. I'm going to a baby shower in November and it's a boy so BLUE it is!
I have never worked this pattern, knit all in one piece and then just sew up side/sleeves. I will let you know how it goes and if I recommend it.

Here is my hexie WIP, slow going but it's fun and I'm just enjoying the process. It's my first hexie project! Do you like the fabric for the back? I thought it was cute!

Cut some Coleus from the garden before a frost and rooting it! Such pretty variegated leaves.

Well, dear friends, thank you so much for visiting me here and taking the time to read my blog. I wish you all happiness, contentment and good health.

xoxoRobin

  2. Love the fabrics you have chosen and the Coleus is a perfect plant for the variegated colour. Take care and rest up as much as you can.

  5. Glad to hear that you are on the mend and that there is nothing seriously wrong. I know several people who have injured themselves while doing exercise classes - seems as though they are dangerous places! Your hexies are gorgeous aren't they! You must be so pleased with how they are turning out. That is a long list of books that you have read, you are doing really well. I have read only one of those - Ship of brides - and I enjoyed that one too! xx
